Sustainable components
Our Blossombs are filled with a mix of organic, wildflower seeds. Wildflowers excel in their contribution to nature; they greatly increase biodiversity. In fact, wildflowers are the primary food source for many insects. Much of our flower mix consists of native seeds. Native species are plant species that have been growing in the Netherlands for centuries, without any human intervention. This means that these species have adapted to the environment and often continue to grow well despite changing weather conditions. You can find our full mix of flowers here.In addition to using organically certified seeds, Blossombs bombs will receive SKAL certification this spring.The final component that completes our product are the packaging. We use over 95% FSC-certified paper and 100% recycled cardboard for this. Our sleeves and headers even have a gold cradle-to-cradle certificate.
Impactful work
For the packing of our products we cooperate with social workshops. Among them are ATEA, Eigenwijs and de Blauwe Kamer. We have a small team in our office in Breda and another part is packed at the location of the daycare center itself. Our colleagues in Breda also take care of gift wrapping. For us, this cooperation is extremely valuable; we learn from each other every day.We are also members of Social Enterprise NL, a platform for social enterprises in the Netherlands. Through our participation, we learn more and more about how others focus their business operations on sustainability and inclusiveness, for which we are very grateful. Restoring and improving biodiversity is our mission, which is why we also work with the Deltaplan Biodiversity Restoration. This is an organization that sets up all kinds of projects to restore biodiversity bit by bit. You can find more info here.As icing on the cake, we continue to work on our EcoVadis scorecard. Right now we have a bronze medal. We have gone up from 50 to 63 points and are obviously aiming for a gold medal. EcoVadis looks at the themes: Environment, Labor and Human Rights & Ethics.
Energy and waste
We try to keep our emissions as minimal as possible. For example, we get all our parts from as close as possible (within Northwest Europe) and Blossombs are made in the Netherlands. Our packages are also shipped in the most sustainable way possible. They are picked up by Tour de Ville bicycle couriers and they deliver the packages by bicycle whenever possible.
